Service and maintenance

To ensure your trailer is always fully functional and ready for use, you should arrange for it to be serviced by an authorised Trailer Service Centre in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

Trojan trailers produce a wide range of trailers for many purposes. Servicing varies according to whether it is carried out on unbraked or braked trailers.

There may also be inspection procedures for special types of trailers, such as tipping trucks, plant transporters etc. However, generally the following points apply for the prescribed service inspections.

All Trailers

Every time you use the trailer check

• The lighting is all in working order.
• The coupling is not worn.
• Tyre Pressures
• Tyre Treads
• Wheel Bearings - lubricate every 12 months                        

Braked Trailers

Every 12 months Check

• Damper is working correctly
• Bellows are not broken or loose
• Brake cables are tightened correctly
• Brake shoes are not worn
• Hand brake is adjusted correctly
• Electrical connections have not corroded.
• Mudguards are positioned giving the wheels plenty of space
• The brakeaway cable has not become damaged
